THE KOWHAI FLOWER.

the flowers go from this to this! They hang in clusters and look so delicate.

I took these photos of this flower on the weekend. I have seen a few blogs that have had some really pretty blooms on so thought this flower might intrest you. It is "kowhai" ( pronounced co-fi) the 'w' is silent. It is a native of n.z. We have it growing here all over the place, lots of different varieties. The photo on my blog header has a big fat wood pidgeon sitting in my tree . Those birds really love the young shoots and litrally strip the tree bare!! Then the 'tui's' come along and drink the nectre from the flowers too. Here are some pics. I also did an applique wallhanger of the tui. It was done about 10 years ago . It was one of my first trys at hand applique . the flowers were bit of a challenge but i did it.

MORE BOOKMARKS.

During the weekend i was able to finish off 2 more bookmarks. One is for a freind of my mums, name is mabel( obviously). The other i have made for lady i know who is also a keen stitcher and loves patchwork(fay). I will keep it till her birthday which is a few months away yet. I have also been doing some stitching on my willowberry deisgns and nearly upto date! And also gail pan designs christmas wish.

"I FINISHED MY SEWING BAG''!

Well I have finally finished my sewing bag! It is a rosalie quinlin design that i liked. I actually started it quite a few months ago but then discovered i didn't have enough fabric for the lining as i was using some Robyn Pandolf fabrics. Then i went onto other things as you do . When i was reading some blogs it reminded me of it as they were talking about doing one so out it came and i have now finished it! Feels good when you actually finish something, i might be on roll!! here are a few pics of the bag, it is for me this one. I think i might do another as it goes togther really well. It has pockets inside each panel to put all your sewing bits and peices while you are working on projects.

BLOCK 8 A TISKET A TASKET.

well i've completed block 8. It is a fun block to do. i will be doing a nother one soon for another project along with a few other favorites.

''BUTTONS, BUTTONS , BUTTONS''

The other day this lovely lady came into my workplace wanting to know what to do with a container of old buttons. I told her I could find a use for them if she didn't want them so here they are. She 's probably saved them up as you do , from old clothes and the like. there are few that look old. There are some wooden buttons, some pearly ones , and somethings that look like cufflink thingys. There is a lovely one with a picture of a wee squirel in it. so cute! but only 1!! some toggles that would fasten some bags maybe, future projects. . . . . . . .

ANOTHER COMPLETED BOOKMARK.

I have completed another shabby roses bookmark. This one is for my mum. I hope she likes it, i'm sure she will. I also added a tassel . I think I will also do one for her good friend fay. She always says, ' 'you shouldn't of''! You don't mind doing things for people who really appreciate things. They don't take long to make which is another plus.
